In My Life

So, the Earth has once again spun the full circle and it's my birthday. I didn't see it coming - time flies so fast and I've had a lot to do so my birthday pretty much caught me by surprise... But here we are, I'm 21 years old today. Not sure how I should feel about that, the day itself is nice but I don't care about being one year older that much. It doesn't really make sense, I think I shouldn't feel antique quite yet...
Anyway, I hope it's going to be a nice day even though it's absolutely freezing outside and I need to get my essay done. I'm going to Chinese restaurant for dinner with my friends so I have something to look forward to.

In My Life

Yesterday I went to opera with my grand mother and aunt and saw Carmen. It was just... I have no words, I never thought it could be that impressive. I was sitting on the edge of my seat, leaning forward, gazing the stage eyes wide open – I was so thrilled it must have looked quite comic, lol. I didn't even know I like opera that much but it was just amazing – the story, staging and singers were all great, and the feeling was simply magical. I need to get back there again sometime soon, it was such a wonderful experience.

The second period at Uni is coming to its end, so I'm currently struggling with plenty of exams and essays. Next week I have an exam including 1300 years of literature history, that's definitely some amount of information to digest... So here I am surrounded by Voltaire's Candide, Cervantes' Don Quijote, Dante's Divine Comedy, pile of Shakespeare plays and many other literary classics, trying to absorb as much as I can. Wish me luck!

About Me And My Artwork

I am a self taught digital artist from Finland. I have been drawing and painting almost as long as I can remember so art has always had a special place in my life. I came to deviantART three years ago and started as a photographer. Very soon I got interested in photomanipulating and I did my first actual manipulations in December 2006. After that I have been practicing on my own and little by little found my personal style. Nowadays my photos are more or less limited to stock images which you can find from *Eirian-stock's gallery. Though I love photomanipulating, I'm also interested in digital painting - one day I'd like to learn to create actual paintings without any references.
I define myself as a fantasy artist though I occasionally create some dark or emotional artwork too. Fantasy is such an important theme for me - my bookshelf is filled with fantasy novels and I can't even count the times I have seen The Lord Of The Rings movies. It's not a surprise, that my love for books and music can be seen quite clearly in my gallery. I get usually inspired by a song or a book - or more generally, a story. It can be a song I've listened to a lot, and the story just keeps living in my head and taking a new forms. In that case I can't usually make my peace until I've managed to create the scenery in my mind. It's the same with the books and other forms of art - something just catches my eye and I turn it to something that reflects my vision of it.

Eirian-stock

In January 2007 I created a stock account with my best friend !Jillianiina - I could say this account has grown alongside with my artwork. I think it is quite natural for a photomanipulator to shoot their own stock images - after all, that’s the material we are working with all the time. During past year I have started to use more of my own material whenever I can.
I'm the one updating the account though I still do a lot co-operation with Niina as well as with ~Jaraid and ~Nazahnel who sometimes help me with the stock images. If you got interested take a look at our gallery!

I just realised that today I have been three years in deviantART. It's once again time to thank all of you wonderful fellow deviants for your support and friendship - they really mean a lot to me. In My Life

It's been a tiring autumn full of family issues, illnesses and stressing over studies and work. I've been sick for almost two months so I haven't been able to do taekwondo at all – I've hardly seen my friends because of my long absence, and it really sucks. Now it seems that I'm slowly getting better, though, and I really hope I will. Working and studying while being sick can get wearing but the most exhausting has been worrying about my family members – they've all had their own problems and I just feel I should try to help them out somehow.
But that's life, all I can say that it's been one seriously tiring autumn for us all. I indeed hope things will turn for the better – at the moment I just keep longing for Christmas holiday, I'm so tired all the time because of the darkness, so it will be awesome to get a break from this all...
I haven't had time or energy for art or writing lately – it's a shame because I really love both of them – after all there were times when even reading e-mails felt too much of an effort. I've been like a sleepwalker during the last month and I'm so happy that I've finally been able to break through the dormancy and do something creative. Huge thanks for your support concerning my most recent manips! It means a lot to me since they are my newest creations since the beginning of September which feels like a small eternity.
I've been browsing through some deviations that have been piling up in my message box – and found some treasures as always. Take a look at the feature, there are some of my favourites.
Once again, thank you for your support on my art - I really appreciate it a lot. I hope I'll be able to answer your comments and messages soon enough. Right now I need to finish reading A Midsummer Night's Dream, I have a lecture about Shakespeare this afternoon at uni. I must say I really enjoy this play, it may even inspire a new manip. In My Life

I'm so sick and tired of the continuous art thefts. Whenever I come to deviantART there are at least three notes waiting to tell me where my artwork has been ripped this time. When finally after several weeks I got admins remove some of my artwork posted to a wallpaper site without my permission, there's this endless fight with Photobucket and who-know-what-other-sites. So let's make it clear once more:

This means NO ONE has a permission to post ANY of my artwork to ANY other sites than this one. So you people CAN'T just take my artwork and put it to your home pages, bolgs, Photobucket accounts or any other site for that matter WITHOUT MY WRITTEN EXPRESSED PERMISSION.

Duh. This should be more than obvious. I'm sorry for all of you fellow deviants but I just had to write this down so that no one can claim that I haven't said anything. I hope I've expressed myself clearly enough. I hate to whine about my art being stolen but I've got recently so many messages about these thefts that I'm beginning to be seriously pissed.
So from now on there will be an ugly watermark ruining each of my artwork until I come to a some other solution. Any pieces of advice or suggestions, anyone? How have you dealt with this matter? If you have any insight about how to deal with the art thieves, please let me know.
