...or just "Igraine of Tintagel" if you like it better.
This piece is inspired by Marion Zimmer Bradley's The Mists of Avalon - one of my favourite books. It's also about one of my favourite characters, Igraine, later the wife of Uther and mother of King Arthur. In this scene she is just a young girl, given as a wife to Gorlois and brought to barren castle of Tintagel, longing for her home, Avalon. So she listens the wind and sea, unaware of her destiny, just trying to reach a glimpse of the world she used to know... I just love her character in the book, the way she's strong and firm, but also tender and unsure at the same time. However, I enjoyed doing this piece a lot - the model stock was something that I just had to use. Back to simplicity, but I'm quite pleased with the way this came out. Hope you like it! Through my tears breaks a blinding light
Birthing a dawn to this endless night
Arms outstretched, awaiting me
An open embrace upon a bleeding tree
