It seems that I'm going to make a series of my favorite mythical places... After creating "Atlantis" and "Avalon" I thought that it would be great to try to make a magical fantasy place which has always inspired me - Rivendell. I must say it was tough - I started five different versions and deleted them all - but in the end I'm quite pleased with the way this piece came out. I have always admired the way Rivendell was created in The Lord Of The Rings movies so you may find certain elements that are similar to the movies. However, I also wanted to make a version of my own - and I hope you like it.
"Rivendell, Imladris, is an Elven outpost in Middle-Earth. It is located at the edge of a narrow gorge of the river Bruinen, but well hidden in the moorlands and foothills of the Hithaeglir or the Misty Mountains. Rivendell was established and ruled by Elrond in the Second Age of Middle-Earth. Rivendell is a direct translation or calque of the Sindarin name Imladris, both meaning 'deep valley of the cleft'."
