I stumbled across this song while randomly browsing through some YouTube videos, and I fell in love with it in a heartbeat (go, listen to it!). I've been humming it for a week now so I just had to create something about it. It's such a haunting, eerie and beautiful song full of different emotions...
I know many variations of Arthurian legends (not to mention the later works) so you can all pick your favorite and decide whether the woman singing this song is Morgause or Morgana Le Fay or someone else. I wanted to depict how within Mordred's birth the darkness slowly creeps upon the Camelot like boding the upcoming death of king Arthur.
Here's some background info à la Wikipedia:

”Mordred is a character in the Arthurian legend, known as a notorious traitor who fought King Arthur at the Battle of Camlann, where he was killed and Arthur fatally wounded. Tradition varies on his relationship to Arthur, but he is best known today as Arthur's illegitimate son by his half-sister Morgause. The discovery of the incest is disastrous; after hearing a prophecy that a child born on May Day, as Mordred was, will destroy him and his kingdom, Arthur rounds up all the noble May Babies and sends them away on a rickety ship. The ship sinks, and the only child to survive is Mordred, who is rescued and eventually returned to his parents. In modern variations, Morgause's character is sometimes combined with Morgan le Fay's, and her role as the mother of Mordred is transferred to Morgan.”

Anyway, I really enjoyed doing this. It's been a while since I've put together a nature background like this so it was fun. Plus I've always wanted to create Camelot (even though it's only on the background). Since I'm currently pretty fond of BBC's The Adventures of Merlin it's pretty safe to say there will be more Arthurian inspired artwork in future, too. I hope you like this one!
