My entry for the Lammas Contest held by
 .Lammas, the festival of the First Fruits of the Harvest, is the first festival of the Waning Year. It is celebrated from the evening of July 31 to the August 1, and it marks the end of summer and the beginning of fall. It is a cross-quarter day, one of the four High Holidays or Greater Sabbats of Witchcraft, occurring one quarter of a year after Beltane. This is when the powerful gods of the grain harvests are honored. Lammas, traditionally, is a merry time, a time of Fairs, Feasts, and Handfastings. "It was on a Lammas night, When corn rigs are bonie, Beneath the moon's unclouded light, I held away to Annie: The time flew by, wi tentless heed, Till 'tween the late and early; Wi' sma' persuasion she agreed To see me thro' the barley..."
